About ProLogis

ProLogis is the leading developer of industrial and distribution buildings in the UK and throughout the world. The company has nearly 19 million square feet of industrial space in the UK, owned, managed and under development in prime locations, with 3.28m sq ft of new leases finalised since July 2007.

One of ProLogis's major strengths is its ability to provide occupiers with properties designed around customers' specific materials handling requirements. We refer to this as build to suit. Over the last five years, ProLogis has developed BTS facilities totalling more than 4.240 million square feet, for a diverse clientele of national companies across all sectors.

In the retail sector, these include such household names as Sainsbury's (624,603 sq ft, Pineham, Northampton), Debenhams (726,000 sq ft, Peterborough), Dunelm (Soft Furnishings) Ltd (250,003 sq ft, Stoke) and, the most recent, Marks & Spencer (1.015m sq ft, Bradford). Distributors Wincanton took a 700,000 sq ft BTS in Kettering, car manufacturer Honda opted for a 350,000 sq ft facility in Swindon, while a BTS was also the preferred choice for Heathrow Airport Ltd (55,035 sq ft, Hayes). The benefit for all these companies was the ability to customise the facilities to their specific operating needs. At the flagship Pineham development, ProLogis pre-let the most enviromentally-friendly distribution warehouse of its kind in Europe to Sainsbury’s supermarket. The award-winning facility incorporates a number of advanced features, designed to dramatically reduce energy consumption and create a Zero Carbon footprint. The building won the most recent Property Week IAS Green award for sustainable development, as well as the first European Property Green Award, a coveted BREEAM Excellent rating, and an even more elusive LEED Gold Award. Pineham covers 112 acres just off the M1 and, when fully developed, will provide 1.7 million square feet of space.

As industry leader, ProLogis understands that it has a duty to set high standards of business excellence, environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility. The company's commitment to innovation in sustainable development means that an increasing number of ProLogis' schemes are rail-linked and from January 2008 ProLogis pledged to achieve a minimum BREEAM rating of Very Good for all new warehouses in the UK. The company's world-class portfolio of customers includes M&S, K+N, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Honda, Screwfix, BSH, ASOS, Wincanton and DHL.

ProLogis' developments are financed from internal resources, which means the company is not reliant on third-party funding. ProLogis not only builds speculatively to a very high quality, but also retains a long-term ownership and management interest in its industrial and distribution parks and the communities they serve. The company has won many awards including: IAS Industrial Developer of the Year 2007, Estates Gazette Industrial Property Company of the Year 2007 and Sustainability Achievement - the IAS Green Award (2007).

ProLogis UK is part of a global company, which has its HQ in Denver, Colorado, and which operates the world's largest portfolio of industrial distribution facilities (526.3m sq ft in 121 markets.) In 2008, as part of its CSR, ProLogis is piloting a Sustainable Champion programme where one contact in each global office takes ownership of green issues and sustainability. During 2007, ProLogis donated $5m to the ProLogis Foundation, in the UK it supported a number of youth sports programmes and, in China, the company has committed to building one elementary school for every 5m sq ft of development.
